Olive Oil and Yogurt

Olive Oil

Immensely popular in biblical times, olive oil is a super antioxidant. It is a monounsaturated oil that has been shown to prevent gallstone formation, heart disease and cancer. It is also helpful in solving menstrual problems.

Medical research proves that olive oil limits the blood platelet sickness that creates the blood clots that cause heart attacks and strokes.

Studies have proven olive oil's ability to lower blood pressure, boost levels of good cholesterol, and to lower levels of bad cholesterol. It has also been shown to improve the arteries.

Other studies show that people who use a lot of olive oil have the lowest risk of cancer. Doctors say that taking small doses of olive oil every day help to dislodge the  fatty deposits that have built up inside the arteries, and then helps flush them out the body.

Olive oil had been used for therapy in gallbladder disease as far back as the Roman Empire. And olive oil, researchers say, is a gentle but effective laxative.

It's a powerful healer, a storehouse of active bacterial cultures, and is both tasty and wholesome, and is so healthy that everybody should consume some daily.

Here are various ways you can get your daily ration of olive oil:

  • Use it on bread instead of butter

  • Use it to sauté spices, herbs, meat and fish

  • Sprinkle olive oil over steamed vegetables instead of using margarine or butter

  • Use it in salad dressings with apple cider vinegar, in pasta sauces as a marinade, and to grease a frying pan

Yogurt

Yogurt can boost the immune system and prevent health problems such as high cholesterol levels, cancer, yeast infections, bowel tumors, and even the common cold.

Yogurt is also loaded with healthy nutrients such as Vitamin B12, protein, phosphorus, calcium, folic acid and riboflavin.

"The bottom line is, yogurt helps you live longer," according to Dr. Steven Novil of the American Longevity Institute. "It's an extremely effective antiaging agent that's rich in B vitamins, which make your body function more efficiently."

Live-culture yogurt turns loose a torrent of chemicals in the blood which fight off colds and flu.

Researchers at Harvard University Medical School and the University of Chicago have shown that plain yogurt, when used as a douche, will cure vaginitis, and even prevent vaginal cancer. "Yogurt appears to have an inhibiting effect on vaginal cancers," says Dr. Lorraine Jacobs of the University of Chicago. The Scientists suggest making a mixture of eight ounces of plain yogurt in a small amount of water, and douching with it once or twice a week until the vaginitis disappears. "Women suffering from vaginitis get far fewer infections if they eat a cup of live-culture yogurt every day," says one researcher at Long Island Jewish Hospital.

Yogurt has also proven its power to keep the arteries clear of fatty substance in the blood, which can cause heart attack and stroke. Eating yogurt regularly can lower cholesterol levels in the blood by as much as 50 percent. Including yogurt is your regular diet can help promote good health in a number of ways. It is better than milk, especially for children.

Yogurt eaten over extended periods of time actually shrank malignant tumors in cancer patients, according to studies by Dr. Louis Flynn at the National Cancer Institute. The patients consumed a quart a day for long periods of time, Flynn reported.

Pioneer yogurt researcher Dr. Khem Shahani, who studied yogurt at the University of Nebraska for more than 35 years, said that yogurt is especially effective in fighting the bacteria that cause dysentery, cholera, diarrhea, and other infections.

Watch For Label Information. To be fully effective, yogurt should contain acidophilus, an opinion shared by the great majority of medical researchers. They agree that the labels on yogurt containers should clearly state that the product contains active cultures.
